You are eligible to apply for HSBC Advance if you:
- Maintain an average monthly balance of QAR 100,000 or more with HSBC in Qatar. No monthly fees apply or
- Earn a minimum salary of QAR 15,000 per month and your salary is assigned to your HSBC Advance Account. A fee of QAR 70 per month will apply
To complete the Account opening process, personally visit any of our HSBC branches with the following documentation:
- Original Passport with valid Residence/Work Permit and Qatar ID issued by the Ministry of Interior (Expatriates)
- Qatar ID issued by the Ministry of Interior (Nationals)
- Salary Transfer Letter from your employer
- Proof of Residence – copy of electricity bill/ telephone bill/ rental agreement

What is the change related to travel insurance for Advance Account Holders?
Effective 30th June 2016 free worldwide multi-trip travel insurance will cease to exist as a feature for all HSBC Advance Account holders
What will happen if an HSBC Advance Account Holder has a claim or occurrence of an insurance event on or before the 30th of June?
Our partner will continue to honor all claims or occurrence of an insurance event for travel insurance which have been incurred on or before the 30th June 2016 subject to policy conditions
What will happen if an HSBC Advance Account Holder has a claim or occurrence of an insurance event after the 30th of June?
After this date, this feature will no longer be available and any claims by the Advance customers will not be honoured by Zurich. Any occurrence of an insurance event after this date will not be processed by our partner
Do HSBC Advance Account Holders get any other benefit since this feature is being removed?
Yes. As an HSBC Advance customer, you currently enjoy Global View and Global Transfers where you can transfer funds instantly and easily within your HSBC accounts globally through Internet banking. We are pleased to inform you that effective 12 April 2016; HSBC Advance customers will enjoy free international Global Transfers*. This means the USD7 online transfer fee that was previously applicable will no longer be applied to Advance customers.

Is there a limit on the amount to be transferred?
The maximum daily limit is USD100,000.
Why do Global Transfers in some currencies take longer than others?
Some currencies can only be traded on-shore due to local regulatory restrictions, and although these currencies will still be available for you to transfer in, there may be a short delay in processing these transactions.
How frequently are the rates refreshed for Global Transfers?
Live exchange rates are available on Personal Internet Banking and are refreshed every 90 seconds during international weekdays (Monday-Friday). On International weekends (Saturday and Sunday) or when the currency markets are closed, the rate remains unchanged until the next international working day.
What was the fee charged earlier?
Earlier the fee charged was USD7 per transaction on Global Transfer
What is the current fee on GVGT?
Effective 12 April 2016, this fee is now removed for HSBC Advance Customers.
