Following the directive of the Qatar Central Bank, we are pleased to announce the implementation of the International Bank Account Number (IBAN) in Qatar. This change will take effect from 31 December 2013. Upon implementation, banks will process payments using the internationally recognized IBAN and this will be applicable for all transfers between banks in Qatar. For international transfers, the IBAN of the beneficiary must be quoted if the country has implemented IBAN. All transfers from outside Qatar to your account will also require a valid IBAN to be provided by the remitter.
Your account number with us remains the same and there will be no changes to your Cheques, Credit Cards or Debit Cards. You will however be required to provide updated payment details to individuals or companies who transfer funds to you to ensure that payments are not delayed or returned. Any standing instructions maintained on your account would also need to be updated to reflect the IBAN of the beneficiary if applicable. We will not be liable for any loss in the event that you fail to carry out this action.
For your convenience, your IBAN will be displayed on your account statements. You can also determine your IBAN by entering your existing account number on the IBAN generator available on our website (www.hsbc.com.qa)
